Will Smoke Detector Chirp Without Battery. An alarm will chirp every 30 to 60 seconds for a minimum of seven days. Dust could cause smoke alarm beeping without a battery.

These simple pocket-sized alarms have been proven time again to ensure home safety from fires. For the conventional models of smoke detectors which makes them produce the non-stop beeping is when they need a new replacement battery. Thats why the alarm may sound a low-battery chirp in the middle of the night and then stop when the home warms up a few degrees.
Remove the detector from its mounting bracket and unplug the power supply.
Reinstall the smoke detector and insert a charged battery. Turn off the power to the smoke detector at your circuit breaker. If your alarm is still beeping even without a battery try taking an air blower similar to one used for keyboards and blow inside the alarms vents. With the battery removed press and hold the test button for 15-20 seconds.
